Special Approvals

Licenses under some categories require approvals from certain ministries.

You can find below a sample of certain activities that require “special approvals”.

Practicing some trade activities (e.g. jewellery and insurance) requires the submission of a financial guarantee issued by a bank operating in the United Arab Emirates.

There are “special” fees and requirements for certain activities:

Tourism Companies

  1. For Inbound Tourism  AED 100,000 is to be deposited in a UAE Bank
  2. For Outbound Tourism AED 200,000 is to be deposited in a UAE Bank
  3. These deposits are irrevocable till the license cancelled.

Travels

For Travel Agency  AED 100,000 is to be deposited at Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing. This deposit is irrevocable till the license is cancelled.

Building Contracting Companies

For Building Contracting Company License, AED 10,000 additional fee is charged by the Department of Economic Development when the license is issued initially.

General Trading

For General Trading License, AED 15,000 additional fee charged by the Department of Economic Development when the license issued initially.

Customs Broker

AED 50,000 is to be deposited at Dubai Customs. This deposit is irrevocable till the license is cancelled.

RTA Activities (following fees to be paid for RTA initial approval)

  1. Rent a Car: AED 5000
  2. Bus Rental: AED 1000
  3. Passenger Transport by rented Buses: AED 1000

Jewelry

Initial approval from Department of Protective Systems

Restaurants

For restaurants, specific special approvals apply.

Supermarket

For supermarket, 2000 square feet area is mandatory.

Telephones & Telecommunications Equipment Trading

AED 5500 to be paid at Telecommunications Regulator Authority (TRA).

Security Service: Property guard & Surveillance Services, Party security & private guarding services

Initial approval from Department of Protective Systems

Oilfield & Natural Gas related activities / Law firms

Approval from Ruler’s Court

Money Exchange / Foreign Exchange Remittance Service

Initial approval from Central Bank of UAE and Department of Protective Systems
